“Make the Impossible a Reality” with Tanya Grabbe

Today we are excited to feature labor, postpartum, and infant care expert, founder of Tennessee Family Doulas and SOWBO VIP Member Tanya Grabbe!

Tennessee Family Doulas offers support to women and families through pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum. Drawing from her own experiences, Tanya helps clients learn about the birth they desire and the parent philosophies that suit them personally—all in an unbiased and supportive way. Tanya is dedicated to ensuring a birth or postpartum experience that is totally focused on the physical, educational and emotional needs of moms, their partners, and their new babies.

Let’s get to know Tanya and her work.

What is the specialty that you offer?

We offer Postpartum & Infant Care Support and Labor Support to families in Middle TN.

What is your “why” for doing Postpartum & Infant Care Support and Labor Support?

I have experienced first-hand the challenges of pregnancy and the postpartum recovery journey, and I am passionate about supporting others through it to help ease the challenges and to instill confidence into new parents. I believe that with support, it’s easier to find the joy in the journey.

Who is your ideal client for Postpartum & Infant Care Support and Labor Support?

I love supporting the career women in our community! Those boss babes that own their own business or have demanding, often high pressure jobs. These women are fearless in the workforce, but a new baby can be an unknown and often overwhelming challenge. Part of what we do is to help these women merge the two worlds—the CEO and the mother—and show them that they can coexist and thrive. We help to show our clients how to make the seemingly impossible a reality.

What makes you different from other Postpartum & Infant Care Support and Labor Support groups?

We support our clients in a way that is meaningful and unique to them, knowing that the choices made during pregnancy and post birth recovery are not one-size fits all. We support our client’s choices without judgment or bias or mom-shaming.

Tell us something fun, quirky, or weird that you’d like our readers to know about you?

I’m the happiest when I can curl up on my sofa with a great movie and a craft project in hand. I am currently in a crochet phase, and love making things for my grandkids and family. I also love our little farm and have lots of dreams for the place. We currently have chickens, and they are such fun! They all have names and are like feathered puppies!

What do you do for fun outside of offering Postpartum & Infant Care Support and Labor Support?

I love grabbing dinner with friends, cooking meals for my kids and grandkids, playing with the grands, and hanging out with my hubby and dogs.

Who inspires you?

I find inspiration while hanging out with other entrepreneurs. Sitting down and having one-on-one conversations always gets my creative juices flowing for my business!

What is your big scary dream?

I’d love to be the most sought-after doula agency in Tennessee and have a 7-figure year within the next five years.

Is there one person or thing that you attribute your success to?

They say it takes a village, and that is so true. I surrounded myself with successful women, building amazing businesses. Many people have played important roles in my success. Amanda and SOWBO; Randy Patterson, CEO of ProDoula; and my amazing husband Jon are all at the top of my list!

What advice do you have for those on their entrepreneur journey?

There is a long list of things that need to be done to start and grow a business, but remember . . . it doesn’t all have to be done today! I know I wanted it all right away, but I had to learn to pace myself. Each step takes time—and often money. Do what you can to grow your business today, and do it again tomorrow. This is a journey with lots of twists, turns, ups, and downs, but you’ve got this!

What book or podcast do you think every business owner should consume? Why is this important to you?

I really love the book The Matriarch Rules: How to Own Your Power, Know Your Worth, and Lead the Life You’ve Always Wanted by Randy Patterson. It was a game-changer for me! I loved how she addressed my whole self and how I could make an impact not only on my business but also my family and life.

What is one thing you love about SOWBO and/or being a member of our community?

I love SOWBO. A member for many years, I’ve made great friends and connections. I love to hire from within the group when I have needs for my business because I know I can count on my SOWBO ladies to do the job right. My business would not be as successful or amazing as it is without the help and support from Amanda and SOWBO!

Thanks to Tanya Grabbe for sharing about her business! We love her message that the two worlds of motherhood and a successful career can coexist. You can get to know Tanya and her work even better by visiting Tennessee Family Doulas.
